2008 Siler Christmas Party

Hi everyone.

We had about 45 people at the Roanoker for our Christmas party. Being Silers, it was loud, but a lot of fun. It was nice to catch up with everyone.

After Dinner, we discussed the summer picnic. Bill said that we have a paid for reservation at a Roanoke County park due to the fact that we had to cancel last June after Darlene passed away. Bill will contact the park department about setting a date for 2009. Those present voted for June 20 at noon.

Randy said the Elaine had made wreaths for Mr. & Mrs. Siler's graves and also Darlene's. Darlene's headstone had been placed, but the footer didn't remain level and it's being done again.

We discussed next year's Christmas party. It was voted to move the date to the Saturday after Thanksgiving, since there are a lot of conflicts in December. The time will also be earlier so that everyone can be home before dark. We talked about whether to go to a restaurant or go back to a hall. Most seemed to like the restaurant idea because we didn't have to cook and clean. We could also go back to the VFW hall, which Bill can get for free because he's a member. Janet is going to contact some caterers about catering a dinner at the VFW. When she gets back to us with prices, we'll contact everyone to poll them as to what everyone wants to do. If we go to a restaurant again, we'll have to make the reservation early in the year to get the date and time we want.

Linda will put out a newsletter after the first of the year for those who don't use the blog.

Chris told us that Laura and Lorien are still in Texas awaiting the birth of Katie's baby. I'm sure Chris will post when the baby is born.

Billy and I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year.
Pat
