Siler Family Picnic

The Siler family picnic was today and we had a good time. The weather was nice and the food and company were excellent. It was fun to watch the children running around together.

Chris, Laura & Lorien had their adorable puppy with them. She is really sweet and very calm --- unlike my crazy pugs! Sara, John, Julie and Tessa were there also. It was good to have Phyllis with us. She came with Lollie, Laurin & Danielle. Woody was also there. Bruce & June were there with Jerry, Teresa, Darnell, Duncan & Ian. Jeanette, Bob, Dewey, Jackie, Estelle, Jerry, Calvin, Kandy and Linda were there along with Billy and me. I hope I didn't miss anyone. We missed everyone who couldn't be there.

Jeanette had pictures of Nikki. She is Miss Plante City (Florida) and will compete in the Miss Florida USA pageant. Laurin has been accepted to grad school at UVA and will be leaving soon. We really have a family to be proud of!

The Christmas party will be the Saturday after Thanksgiving at the VFW hall in Vinton. We have the hall all day. The time wasn't set, but will probably be sometime between noon and 2:00.

We'll be heading to Cape Cod on June 29 (through July 6) to visit Mary Catherine and also visit with my family at my sister Karen's July 4th cookout. Mary Catherine has had a rough week. She got food posoning on Sunday night and ended up in the ER three nights in a row. The third night because she had a severe allergic reaction to an anti-nausea drug. She says she's 300x better today. It was really hard to be here with her sick up there, but she has several "guardian angel" friends. She was definitely in good hands.

Welcome and Farewell

We welcome Cheyenne into the Siler clan. She is beautiful.

We bid a fond farewell to Junior Chisom who passed away on January 20 with Phyllis, Lollie, Woody and Cathy at his side. He was a good man and will be missed.

Phyllis has moved into a new room at Friendship. It is like assisted living and there are more activities. So far she likes it.

Linda and I ended up missing the funeral on Friday. We spend the day in the ER at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Linda had been having some vision problems and dizzy spells. She had an appointment with an ophthalmologist on Friday morning. We were sure we'd have plenty of time to get to the funeral but the doctor sent us directly to the ER for an MRI/MRV to rule out a tumor or blood clot, which he didn't expect and thankfully there were none. She then had a spinal tap to measure pressure of the cerebro-spinal fluid (the fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord). The pressure was quite high and that was causing her symptoms. The ER doctor removed quite a bit of fluid to relieve the pressure. Some symptoms went away immediately and she is feeling better every day. We thank everyone for all their prayers.
